3 kinds of termite treatments

On Behalf of | May 26, 2018 | Real Estate Transactions

Whether you’re trying to buy a new home or sell your current home, a surprise discovery of termites on the property could spell disaster for your real estate deal. If you’ve found termites on a property and you’re the buyer or the seller, you may be able to negotiate with the other party regarding treating the property for termites.

Here are three common treatments options for termites in the home:

Liquid termite treatment: A pest control company can apply a liquid solution to the building foundations of a home. This liquid will essentially protect the edifice from termites coming in. Not only can this kill and resolve current termites in the home, but it can also prevent future infestations.

Dry foam treatments: Void areas in exterior or interior walls can be breeding grounds for termites. These void areas may also be found around water pipes, under concrete slabs and around heating ducts. The dry foam expands into these places to offer extra protection and moisture reduction to prevent wet spot.

Bait and monitoring pods: These are small devices installed around the home that attract termites and poisons them. The bait and monitoring pods not only disrupt the termite molting process, but they also offer a means to monitor the current activity of termites on a property.

Are you involved in a real estate transaction for a property with a termite problem? Whether you’re the buyer or seller of the property where termites have been found make sure you fully understand your legal rights and obligations under Texas real estate law.
